As much as I’d love to keep some things a secret, the internet proves to always ruin my plans. With that being said, Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock, NC has been special to my family since the 70s or 80s. I have spent so many summers there, fishing with my dad and sitting on our patio staring into the evergreens that make the smoky mountains so special. My soul feels lighter there – it soars between the tops of the mountains and settles in the valleys, cradled by pine trees and dense fog. This exact place, that imagery is what I sought to invoke when naming my business. I’ll go anywhere…but if you get married in the North Carolina mountains I am going to have an even deeper connection to your wedding before I ever meet you.
You can imagine my elation when Millie reached out to me, telling me that her and her husband were getting married at the one and only Chetola. After a few emails and a Skype call, this amazing couple decided I was the one for them. Holy shit right? Literally like a dream coming true – for over a decade I drove into and left behind the sight of a Saturday wedding on the lawn, a lakeside tent and ceremony space set up in one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen. Then all old a sudden I got chosen to be a part of such an event.
Millie and Andy, I can still not thank you both enough for trusting in my vision and allowing me to be such an integral part of your wedding day. It means so much to me even still, and I will always remember that rainy day as nothing short of perfect; Mr. and Mrs. Goodnight.
